a special breastplate
All breastplates are considered Medium Type Armor and would require the appropriate armor feats to use it without penalty.
Normal Breastplate: This is made of a metal construction, usually steel.
Defense Bonus=+5; Max Dex=3; Armor Penalty=-4; Speed=20’; Weight=30 lb
Aluminum Breastplate (1888): Thicker than the steel breastplates, this is actually lighter but it needs the extra thickness to maintain the protective strength. Thus, its benefits over steel include reduced weight, reduced armor penalties, and increased movement rate for the same defense bonus. The detriment is that the Max Dex is reduced because the breastplate is actually 1.5 times thicker than an equivalent strength steel breastplate.
Defense Bonus=+5; Max Dex=2; Armor Penalty=-2; Speed=25’; Weight=15 lb
Stainless Steel Breastplate (1908): Slightly thinner than steel breastplates to achieve the same protection, it is slightly lighter, too. Its benefits over steel include reduced weight, reduced armor penalties, and less maintenance for the same defense bonus.
Defense Bonus=+5; Max Dex=3; Armor Penalty=-3; Speed=20’; Weight=25 lb;
Titanium Breastplate (1925): Strong as steel but lighter than steel and only a little heavier than aluminum.
Defense Bonus=+5; Max Dex=4; Armor Penalty=-2; Speed=25’; Weight=18 lb
